I was in the car when I found this out on my iPho„e_state)).

Cover Flow
For the fans of cover flow, from Finder, to iPhone, to iTunes, now to Safari. This feature actually entertained me for a few minutes. Cover flow is only available to be viewed under Bookmarks and History. You can scrollthrough your Bookmarks and History in a flash. Since you have the webpage view in front of your eyes, it will be easier to remember where you wanted to go.

New Tab Format
This feature I'm not raving about too much. It seems to mimic the Google Chrome browser format. However with the tabs moved up, this allows you to have a little more webpage viewing room.

Windows Users- you no longer have to stick with the Apple theme.
Apple finally cut the slack a bit for Windows users on interface styling. Instead of having a Mac themed Safari, title bars, borders, and toolbars have been replaced to make Windows users feel right at home.

Viewing the World Wide Web, in Giant Terms
Personally I was pumped for this feature when I came across it. In the previous version of Safari, when i zoomed in on a page, only the text would enlarge, and not the rest of the page. Now, you can blow up your whole webpage without distorting quality. Yes, this feature is now handy for my blind eyes, but I don't think Safari personally likes me zooming... With my MacBook Air, whenever I zoom in/out with my trackpad gesture, it will go wacko. Yesterday it took me ten minutes just to get back to a normal page view again. A person at Barnes & Noble behind me looked at me confused as to why my page was going bezerk.

Finally, bring in the Google Assistance!
As seen in Firefox, when you type in a term in the search bar, Google (or whatever search engine you were using) will bring up suggestions for your search to simplify things. Now Safari has brought this into their own browser, and the feature is pretty handy. However, you're going to have to hold tight if you used the search bar in Firefox or Internet Explorer that gave you the option of searching eBay, Wikipedia, Amazon, etc.

We've got the Web Police
Apple has bumped up their security for our safety. If you open yourself to a malicious site, Apple will stop you and will not open the page. Ha, that will be quite vital to you Windows users.

And I mean to mention, that browsing is faster! That's one main thing that all of you can take advatage of (unless you have a choking computer)!

Below are tests done by CNet, that benchmarked browser results. Safari 4 came up on top for performance.

All in all, the new Safari 4 is very satisfying. You will love your new browsing experience.

Good luck!

When I got home I instantly downloaded Safari onto my MacBook Air. I sat down in Barnes & Noble for some peace and quiet and installed it in a jiffy.

As it was installing, I read about the new features that held new surprises for excited users. They seemed very appealing and intellectual.
I've been with Safari 4 Public Beta for a day now. So far it has performed fabulously.
Here's my take on the new features Apple had to offer:

Top Sites
This feature reminds me of looking at a fancy version of a fast food restaurant menu. The top websites that Safari logs you going onto is added to your top sites. You can access your top sites anytime when you click on the + symbol at the top right hand corner of the browser window. You can delete, rearrange, and resize your beautiful arrangement of websites. When you want to go to one, simply click it and Safari will load it.
